Microbiology

Microbiology at CVMLS VDL includes both bacteriology and mycology.

The services we provide includes aerobic and anaerobic culture for the presence of bacterial pathogens (along with antibiotic sensitivity testing specific for veterinary use), minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), as well as fungal culture.

We are one of the few diagnostic laboratories in Hong Kong adopting the use of a Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization-Time of Flight (MALDI-TOF) machine for bacterial and fungal identification, allowing us to produce faster and more accurate results.

The microbiology team at CityU VDL is dedicated to providing high quality diagnostic services and comprehensive interpretation of results with fast turnaround time for clinicians in Hong Kong and the region.
