Adjunct professor Fraser Hill is recognised as a specialist in veterinary pathology in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. He is a member of the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Sheep Medicine and Pathology as well as a fellow of the Australia and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Anatomic Pathology.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science with distinction from Massey University in New Zealand, he entered rural veterinary practice and worked with a range of farmed and companion animal species for six years.

This was followed by three years at a research station investigating the suitability of swamp buffalo and alpacas for New Zealand farming conditions.

Since 1993 he has worked in veterinary diagnostic pathology laboratories, both government and commercial operations.

He has particular experience and expertise in the diagnosis of Bovine Viral Diarrhoea virus in cattle, working for ten years on a project to control the disease in New Zealand cattle. Since 2010 he has been the New Zealand Veterinary Associations member of the Australasian Committee for the Registration of Veterinary Specialists, tasked with assessing the suitability of applicants to work as veterinary specialists.

In addition to refereed publications and many speaking engagements at local and international conferences, he has published numerous articles on aspects of veterinary diagnostics for veterinary practitioner continuing education.

In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious Alan Baldry memorial prize for a veterinarian making a significant contribution to the sheep and cattle industry of New Zealand.

Dr Tse was born and grew up in Hong Kong before studying veterinary science at the University of Edinburgh. On returning to Hong Kong she worked at the Hong Kong Government veterinary laboratory where she developed an interest in anatomic pathology. After undertaking an anatomic pathology residency at Cornell University (in conjunction with City University) and successfully completing the board examinations in 2018, Dr Tse returned to Hong Kong to join the veterinary pathology team at CityU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. Dr Tse enjoys all aspects of diagnostic pathology but has a particular interest in neoplasia and fish pathology.

Dr. Andrew Ferguson has extensive experience working in veterinary diagnostic laboratories within government, research and commercial settings across several countries. For over ten years Dr Ferguson worked for various offices of WHO and OIE, and has also consulted for FAO in both technical and management roles, promoting collaborative approaches in the fields of laboratory strengthening, diagnostic testing, and zoonotic disease. He enjoys interacting across fields and looks forward to working with clinicians and veterinary practices to ensure they receive the best value out of our testing services.

Dr. Jeanine Sandy is an associate professor for veterinary pathology at the City University’s Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences. She obtained her American Board qualifications as an anatomic pathologist in 2010 and as a clinical pathologist in 2021. Working one day per week on the anatomic and clinical pathology roster, Dr. Sandy’s special areas of interests include liver, bone, skin and clinical pathology.

Dr. Mills grew up in Calgary (western Canada) and completed his veterinary degree and pathology training at the University of Saskatchewan. He subsequently entered private practice, gaining valuable experience as a small animal clinician and clinic owner. He successfully completed his ACVP board certification in 2016. Now he focuses primarily on diagnostic pathology, specializing in surgical pathology and all aspects of clinical pathology. Special interests include digital pathology and comparative features of cytology and surgical pathology as they relate to improved diagnostic reporting.
